Statistics show that nearly 90% of Americans don’t meet the dietary recommendation to eat seafood 2-3 times per week. If you are part of this 90%, and struggling to find ways to incorporate seafood into your diet in a fresh and fun way, then check out some of these tips:

  • Swap Meat for Seafood: Take some of the recipes that you’re already familiar with, and swap out the meat for seafood! For example, instead of eating a hamburger, eat a salmon burger!
  • It’s More than a Main Course: You’re probably used to eating seafood for lunch or dinner, but we’re here to tell you that it’s OK to eat it as a snack or an appetizer! You can even incorporate it into your morning breakfast.
  • Use it as a Condiment: Seafood doesn’t have to be eaten on its own! If you’re trying to sneak more seafood into your diet here and there, then incorporate it as an “extra” into dishes you’re already eating. Use it as a salad topper, layer it into a sandwich, or use it on tacos!
  • Keep it Simple: Eating seafood doesn’t always have to be extravagant. If all you have time for is canned seafood? Great! Don’t have time to cook? That’s okay! There are plenty of methods that allow you to have a healthy wild-caught meal, with little to no effort. Check out this air fried salmon recipe for reference.

The bottom line is, if you aren’t eating the weekly recommended serving of seafood, then you are missing out on key nutrition. Get creative in the kitchen with your seafood, all while keeping it simple, so that you can take advantage of this high quality, wild-caught protein.
