If you recently purchased wild Alaskan crab, then it’s time to get cracking! See our favorite easy crab cracking tips & tricks below, so that you can ensure your next crab boil goes over in the best way!
What You'll Need:
- Large Stock Pot with the Lid
- Kitchen Shears
- A Dish Towel
- Begin by steaming your crab. Add it to a pot of boiling water (about 1/4 inch deep), cover and steam for about 8-10 minutes, or until hot to the touch (dungeness crab only takes about 6-8 minutes).
- Crack the leg at the joint. If you need to, protect your hands by using a dish towel. Twist the crab leg at the joint, and then pull out the tendon.
- Use kitchen shears to cut through the shells, then pull apart and remove the meat.
