Smoked Salmon Sandwich Melt

Whether you’re looking to sneak more wild-caught seafood into your own diet, or you’re trying to trick the kids into eating more seafood, this Smoked Salmon Grilled Cheese will be a quick and easy way to make seafood taste even better than it usually does! Our smoked salmon is coming to us from a small, family-owned company called Tonka Seafoods. Their salmon is inspected and hand-cut to ensure quality, before being cold smoked over alder wood. We keep our seafood simple, and our recipes even simpler. Enjoy!

Smoked Salmon Sandwich Melt

Serves: 2

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. Tonka Seafoods Smoked Salmon
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 pieces of sliced Texas Toast
  • 6 slices of cheddar or colby jack cheese
  • 2-4 tablespoons onion and chive cream cheese (or to your preference)
  • 1 tablespoon of your desired seasonings (we used the Drunken Butcher’s Money Maker Meat Rub)

Directions:

Spread one tablespoon of butter on each slice of bread, and then spread 1-2 tablespoons of your cream cheese on the inside of one slice of bread. 

Place the first slice of bread butter side down, cream cheese side up, into a skillet at medium heat. Stack 3 pieces of either Colby jack or cheddar cheese on top of your cream cheese, and then put your desired amount of smoked salmon on top of the cheese.

Top your sandwich with the second piece of buttered bread and press the sandwich with a spatula.

Once the bottom piece of bread becomes golden and crisp (about 2 minutes), flip your sandwich over. 

Add 1-2 tablespoons of water (yes we know this sounds crazy…but it works!) to your pan and cover with a lid to create steam. Once your cheese is ooey gooey and melty, remove from the pan and serve!

Repeat with your second sandwich.
